Age no barrier for KDM Cookstown 100 newcomer

45 years old Paul Mackey, is another rider who has been a late starter to racing. The Steel Fabrication Manager from Newcastle Upon Tyne   only began racing two seasons ago,  building up his experience and level of licence on short circuits in the UK, the more tracks he raced at, the more experience he gained, Now having sampled no less than 10 different circuits across the mainland ,Paul is now eligible to achieve his dream of competing  on the  Roads and to be able to race at the Isle of Man TT.

Following a podium at Snetterton, and a win at Croft, Mackey qualified for a National licence TO GO REAL ROAD RACING.

From there on his first Road Race was the Barry Sheene festival at Scarborough , where he qualified in the B group and came in third after that.

Last year ,despite the adverse conditions and only three times out on track at the Dundrod 150 races, Paul was more than  happy with a 108mph average and coming in the top 20 of 84 riders !

Mackey also broadened his horizions and competed at the end of season road race at  Frohburg  in Germany which landed him in the top 20 out of 34 riders.

Thanks to  ; Elite Cranes ,Top signs ,Robson General Builders and GS Motorcycle,Paul Mackey is planning a more fuller season of racing between the hedges, and is looking forward to competing in the KDM Hire Cookstown 100
